Is ABC anti-Sawyer?

Filed under: celebrities, Uncategorized — nahanarts @ 2:02 pm

There’s this thing on called the Lost Showdown where there’s a bracket system and you vote on 16 clips from the first four seasons. On Wednesday it’ll be down to 8, and then I think it’s like a week or so between voting times to narrow it down to the single best clip.

They’re all really amazing clips, of course. And some of them are really tough to choose between. Did you cry your eyes out when Charlie put his hand up to the window to tell Desmond it wasn’t Penny’s boat? Or were you speechless when you finally found out how Locke was paralyzed? These are the questions we must answer.

I’ve come to believe, however, that whoever put together the brackets has it out for Sawyer and doesn’t want him to make it past the first round. First, there are only two clips which feature him. He’s in a couple more, but he’s the main person in just two. Those are the scene where he and Kate finally get it on in the cage, and then when he whispers into Kate’s ear and then jumps out of the helicopter. Both great scenes. But they’re put up against Jack’s “We have to go back” speech and the island disappearing, respectively. Now I love Sawyer, and of course voted for his clips, but I don’t expect the rest of the Lost audience to do the same. I understand that “We have to go back” will probably make it a few more rounds, if not be the winner.

I just don’t know why one of Sawyer’s scenes couldn’t have been against something with stupid Michael or something. I at least want him to make it past the first bracket.

Oh well. Go vote!

There are a bunch of posters up for Big Love right now. I think a new season starts next week. I’ve never watched it, but I’ve heard good things. All of the posters are split into four corners and have various characters in each one. One of them is the dude with the three wives. And one of them looks just like Cameron from House.

I’m pretty sure it’s mostly how she looks in this specific picture, but this Ginnifer Goodwin keeps tricking me. She could totally be Jennifer Morrison. Look how similar their names are! And they’re only a year apart in age.

This here is Ginnifer Goodwin and below is Jennifer Morrison.

They’re both lovely girls.I guess Morrison does look a lot different when she has blond hair. But I like her better as Cameron when it’s dark.

Best Survivor Contestant Ever.

Well, not yet. He has to get on there first.

But I can assure you he’s lovable and entertaining.

Benson and Stabler to the rescue

Okay, so I knowwww that I’ve already established my love of NCIS. It’s the only crime show I’ve even considered watching on a weekly basis when new episodes come out rather than watching marathons on USA, TBS etc. Unfortunatly, new episodes are airing on Tuesdays, and I work Tuesday nights. Fooey.

However, it’s hard to resist pretending you’re on Law & Order when you and a friend in central park can so convincingly depict dead body/dead body finder and wait around for Benson and Stabler to come to the rescue.

I know that SVU isn’t the only Law & Order (who could overlook Vincent D’Onofrio in Criminal Intent?). But it is my favorite, i suppose. I like the characters alright, I just couldn’t tell you any sort of timeline about their personal lives. They’re just there to solve the crimes and every once in a while Stabler mentions he has a family at home.

Mariska Hargitay is probably definitely the hottest detective on all of the Law & Orders. She’s great, and I like Benson for the most part, except when she gets a little too attached to cases. I guess it’s a common issue in that sort of job, but I never really feel like she has all that much emotion. It seems forced somehow. But I do like her, and her and Stabler together is pretty great. Hargitay really hasn’t been in much. An episode of Seinfeld, an episode of Ellen, and what seems to be a full season of ER. Nothing upcoming, though. I wish she’d take a more sexy role in something, because the pantsuits just don’t show her full potential. Also, long hair vs. short hair? Your thoughts?

Okay, I don’t like to admit my love for Christopher Meloni, but he’s definitely attractive. I think it’s his personality as Stabler, though, that’s the biggest selling point. He’s such a badass, but sometimes has a softer side. I guess you have to in his job. Sometimes he gets a little too macho for my liking, but when you carry a gun around every day I think that’s to be expected. Meloni has been in a few noteworthy movies, including 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He also had a fairly main role in Oz. Did you know he did the voice for Spike on Dinosaurs?!! YES.  He’s made a few bad decisions, like Harold & Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay and Nights in Rodanthe. Not that I saw either of those. Hopefully his upcoming movies will be better, Dirty Movie and The Stepfather. One time on the show I saw him with his shirt off for an instant and noticed he had tattoos. This is what it is, though. It’s nice, stylistically, I just think I’d be a little weirded out if I were ever doin’ a guy and had jesus in plain view. Maybe that’s just me.

In case you’re interested, the second picture of him in Google Images is full-frontal of him in a prison cell. This was with moderate safe search on, too. I don’t know what the context was, but seems like an interesting movie? show? Maybe that was from Oz? Hm.

But the best role he’s ever played is clearly Gene in Wet Hot American Summer.

(mmmm beards)

And then there’s Mr. Munch. Er, Detective Munch. Richard Belzer. I must say he’s done a fine job of being the same character throughout his career. He’s played Detective  Munch on more than five different shows, starting on Homicide: Life on the Streets, and including Arrested Development, and The Wire. Oh, but don’t forget Belzervision. He always looks so grumpy. So here’s a picture of him with a puppy.

And of course, Captain Cragen, played by Dann Florek. He’s a pretty lovable old guy. He never really gets angry, except when it’s really important. He’s been on a lot of crime shows, starting wtih  Matlock. And the unforgettable Mr. Slate in The Flinstones. It appears that he has a wife. However, these pictures lead me to believe otherwise.

Just sayin’.

Chris North looks to be enjoying this, but Melosi just got caught in a man-twister and landed in awkward-city. Seems like he’s at least trying to play along, though.

Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. What does that name mean to you? Nothing. Exactly. Because he’s just always going to be Ice-T, no matter what weird character name he’s given. And that includes T-Saint in Tank Girl, J-Bone in Johnny Mnemonic, and C-Note in The Heist. I sense an affinity for hyphens. He was also in Frankenpenis.

I saw an interview with him once about his character on SVU, and it really seems like he wants to be taken seriously as an actor.

My faaaavorite minor character is Dr. George Huang played by B.D. Wong. He’s actually been in some pretty cool stuf, AND was Howard Weinstein in Father Of the Bride (parts 1 and 2)!! I’d let him plan my wedding any day. He also did the voice of the cockroach in Joe’s Apartment, and 47 episodes of Oz. And according to imdb, he was one of the morphed faces in Michael Jackson’s Black or White video. And he’s completely adorable.

I’m going out on a limb here and assuming anyone cares about Dr. Melinda Warner played by Tamara Tunie. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Tunie is a great person and all, and she does her job as Warner well. But she’s just not developed much. She’s no Ducky.  As far as her roles go, there’s not much to speak of, although what seems to be a fairly lead role on As the World Turns. She does, however, fall into the category of totally hot if I could ever see her not in a lab coat.

And fiiiiinally, ADA Casey Novak played by Diane Neal. Novak definitely has a personality, but I find her a little bitchy. She’s got good intentions, but I dunno, I guess I feel like Neal in real life is a lot more laid back, and it’s hard for her to play such a by-the-books role. She’s been in pretty much nothing I care about except for her recent performance on 30Rock as one of Liz Lemon’s high school classmates in the episode “Reunion”. A brilliant episode, I must say. And Neal played her part very well.  She’ll be in Dirty Movie as well. AND AND AND something called Your Presents Requested starring Melissa Joan Hart and JOEY LAWRENCE. Awesome.

I really love that the show is set in New York, because now I can figure out if I’ve been to this episode’s crime scene, or how I would get there on the subway. Probably not something my parents would be too comfortable with, and I’m pretty sure SVU is most of the reason why they’re afraid for me to live here. But man, if I get to meet Stabler, er Meloni, it’ll all be worth it.

You should now.

I’m going to buy blue paint and hand-written letter holders on my way home from work.

I watched the new episode of 30Rock last night. It was, you know, good. Salma Hayek guest starred (just another in the barrage of guest stars Tina has been able to coerce onto the show). As I watched her, I couldn’t help realize that I’m pretty sure she’s the same person as Cote de Pablo from NCIS.

I know Cote’s character, Ziva is supposed to be from Israel, but the actress was actually born in Chile, raised in Miami. Hayek was born in Mexico, and is apparently 13 years older, but I’m not buyin’ it.

Seriously, during the 30Rock episode last night I expected Tony and McGee to jump out from behind Jack’s bookcase and arrest him. Which would be bad, because I love Alec Baldwin. But based on the episodes ending I think Salma will be making more appearances, so it could still happen. Although if Jack and Gibbs were in the same room I think my brain would explode.

Okay, so Salma’s hair is darker and Cote has a weird/cute widow’s peak thing going on. And day-um are Salma’s boobs bigger. But still, I could see getting them confused.

The others…

Man, that’s a clever title. Okay, okay so not actually the others, just the ones I didn’t get to last time. I’ve also had a few more weeks to ponder the characters and their possible whereabouts.

Claire! I felt really bad leaving her out last time, especially with her Charlie connections. What a crazy character, at least in the more recent episodes. Is she dead? Is she just chillin’ out with Jacob/Christian/the smoke monster???

Oh, Emilie di Ravin, you adorable Australian. Another NCIS alum (don’t know if I’ve seen that episode, though). AND AND AND…ROSWELL! I totally forgot she was on that until I looked her up. My parents and I watched that show religiously…I can’t believe I forgot she was the other alien girl who showed up and sort of stole Max away from Liz. Oh, you never saw that show? You don’t know the high-school/alien drama you’re missing.

Beastmaster.  She was in that, too. AS A DEMON. Ridiculous.

She’s got two movies coming up: Rogue’s Gallery, which sounds decent if you’re in to spy movies, and something called Public Enemies about gangsters starring HOLY GOD Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, Giovani Ribisi AMONG OTHERS. check it. Oh man I hope that’s for real.

Claire almost wins for most annoying catch-phrase, “My bay-bay!” (baby, for you non-aussie translators). However, there’s one worse, and that’s Michael. Harold Perrineau is actually pretty hot, if you can repress the sound of “My boy! Where’s my boy!?!?!” which he had to yell at least once an episode for a good stretch there. Oh, and if you can ignore the fact that he KILLED LIBBY. And Ana Lucia. Jerk.

I dunno, I guess he kind of redeemed himself on the boat, but man I hated him for a while there. I know, I know, he just wanted to protect his son. But he didn’t have to go about it the way he did.

Anyyyyway. Perrineau is a fairly established actor at this point. He had a pretty significant role on OZ, and he was in some Matrix stuff, as well as 28 Weeks later. None of these things I saw, but sound cool, I guess. BUT mmmmmmmm Shakespeare! Did you remember? I didn’t. He was Mercutio in the 1996 Romeo + Juliet!!! Ah! Ahhh! Love it. Not only is he in drag for the costume party, but he has probably one of the best  scenes in that movie when he’s screaming out on that desert/abandoned lot thing. And then when he dies…oof. Tearjerker.

He’s also Ariel in a TV version of The Tempest, and the chorus in something called MacBeth in Manhattan, which sounds pretty awful, but you never know. Did I mention I love Shakespeare a lot? So points for him.

Plus Walt. Malcolm David Kelley. Not much to say here, since he’s only 16. He had his first role at 6, though, which is pretty impressive. I’m not even going to get into his mysterious growth spurt on the show. Obviously it couldn’t be avoided when you cast a 12 year old kid. Can’t be expected not to age over the course of 4 years. Chock it up to weird time-travel, if you like.

He paid his dues on some pretty common shows, Judging Amy, Law & Order, etc. He’s got two upcoming movies, Kings of Appletown and Mississippi Damned in which he apears to have fairly main roles. Good for him. I wonder if Walt has to come back to the island with everyone else, too.

I contemplated not addding Shannon and Boone, but I can’t help it. They still seem like very integral characters to me, even though they both bit the big one more than a season ago.

I liked Shannon okay, except I never really bought her and Sayid. I mean, yeah if I couldn’t have Jack or Sawyer because of stupid Kate, and Jin’s already taken, I guess he’s the next best choice. But..I don’t know,  it was too quick, I think. All of a sudden they’re in love? Eh.

So, Maggie Grace. She was in seriously nothing I’ve heard of except Cold Case and CSI until Lost. I saw a commercial last night for her new movie Taken with Liam Neeson. It looks okay for what appears to be a hostage/thriller movie. Also upcoming: Playing Alice in Malice in Wonderland (sounds…iffy) and rumored to be in Catch .44, something I just can’t get behind because of the title. Sorry, I’m a big Joseph Heller fan.

She’s real hot, though.

But Boone! Oh, gorgeous, foolish, Boone. Why do so many people on this show have amazing eyeballs? Guess that’s why so many episodes start with eye-closeups. Mystery: solved. Ian Somerhalder was in a few things before Lost including Life as a House which I intended to see, but never did, and The Rules of Attraction, which was pretty good if you didn’t read the book first. I guess he’s had time to make movies since Boone died. He’s got four coming out The Tournament, How to Make Love to a Woman, Wake, and Fireball. Wake sounds the most interesting to me, and also has Danny Masterson in it, so I’m sold.

Also, you know how I feel about beards.

Okay, two more for today. Two of the most important characters in the show…first Juliet.  I love her. And I think she makes a lot more sense with Jack than Kate does. It took me a while to think of her as a good guy. But her flashback episodes really made me like her. And then that last scene of her with the rum on the beach. I guess I hope I’m most like her out of all the female characters.

Elizabeth Mitchell plays her. She’s done the regulars, Law & Order, CSI, and even a 14 episode stint on ER. BUt she also made the decision to be Mrs. Claus in The Santa Claus 2 AND 3. Not sure how I feel about that.

She’s totall gorgeous, but she needs to lay off the eye makeup.

Laaaaast….the one behind it all (maybe?)

Ben, by far the creepiest and most hated character on the show. But I’m willing to bed Michael Emerson is actually a really sweet guy. I don’t know why I feel that way. He just seems like it in pictures of him smiling, and not in that creepy ben smile way. I don’t know what the hell Ben is up to, how he got to the island, how he moved it, etc. His backstory episodes to a lot to explain his personality, but not really his motivations. He’s probably the character I’m most excited to follow. Everyone else is fairly settled in who they are, but there’s still so much more to find out about him.

He’s apparently mainly a stage actor, so it makes sense that he doesn’t have too many movies listed. Just the typical shows, plus playing a crazy person in Saw.

Maybe I’ll get to the ship people at some point, mostly because I love Daniel. Only time will tell…

Getting Lost

So, I just finished watching all 4 seasons of LOST in the span of about 2 months. It was an incredible journey. And now I can’t wait for January 21st when the new season will come out. But for now, I’ll have to subsist on Lost websites and blogs. For realz.

Here’s the best I could dig up on  the cast members. Warning: spoliers, of course.

Even though he’s not my favorite, I won’t try to deny that Jack is the main character.  He’s played by Matthew Fox who was on Party of Five, but I never watched that show so it doesn’t matter. He’s 42. Ugh. Okay, not that old, but could be my father. I don’t care. He hasn’t been in much else (like most other people on this show). But he was in Smokin’ Aces, lookin’ like a tool. Which is great. I love when beautiful stars have it in them to do a not-hot role. It shows something nice about them, I think.

I just realized that his tattoos are apparently real, and so I assume had to be written in to the storyline of LOST. This I’m not a big fan of. The tattoos are okay on the show, they make sense. But they’re kind of tacky. I don’t know. I have a tattoo, I’m not knockin’ them, but I guess I feel that his are somewhat lame. Unless they have a badass story to back them up. Maybe that’s the case. I mean, look at this. Great smile. Great body. Seemingly genuine and adorable. But, really, stars on your forearm? Eh.

He’s getting into film, I suppose, since LOST will be done filming within the next two years. He was Racer X in last year’s Speed Racer movie. I didn’t see it because it looked terrible. However, when it came out I had yet to discover Lost. Therefore,

I’ll probably check it out if only to imagine Jack Shephard in a body suit.  Oh, he was also in Vantage point which I also haven’t seen. Is it any good? Eh, I’ll watch it for him anyway. IMDB doesn’t have him in any upcoming roles, but lets hope he’s just been busy with LOST, and that he’ll make his way back to film soon.

While Fox may be a great actor and undeniably hot, I’m a Sawyer girl. I think it’s because I relate to him more than Jack. Or maybe it’s because he’s the bad boy. Or maybe it’s just the dimples. But DAMN, he’s delectable. Really. I hope he’s okay, wherever that stupid island took him. And…looking at all the previews on for season 5, he has his shirt off for the majority of the season. YES.

He’s played by Josh Holloway who is 39, so a little more doable (for me) than Fox. He’s also happily married and expecting what will be an amazing baby (hot white guy + hot asian chick = beautiful baby). So, that’s unfortunate for me, but life (heart?) will go on.

So, he hasn’t been in that much either, save some CSI and NCIS episodes. (Check out NCIS season 1 episode 12 where he playes…a sherriff!!! hot.) BUT he was the purse-snatcher in Aerosmith’s Cryin video. Who later gets his shit kicked out of him by none other than Alicia Silverstone. I don’t care. I’d let those gorgeous eyes steal my purse. Not really. But if he asked nicely…

He’s in an upcoming film, according to IMDB called Stay Cool which I thought might be a sequel to Be Cool, but doesn’t appear to be so. Rather than inundate you with a million gratuitously sexy photos of him, I’ll send you here.  However…a few notes.

I saw this picture up in a shop in Penn Station. And stopped and stared, of course. I’m not really a fan of the advertising campaign of “the power of cool” but whatever. Josh has to make the moneys. And with that body, what better way? He was a model for a while before moving to California to act.

He says he doesn’t like having to sport long hair for his role as Sawyer. I can see where he’s coming from. I am in love with Sawyer, but I’m not usually a fan of guys with long hair. And how can you deny that he looks just as wonderful with it short?

Probably my favorite thing about Sawyer is that he’s actually really sweet and emotional and likes to read!  How adorable. Isn’t that what every girl wants, anyway? A strong, protective guy who will cuddle with you and a book at the end of the night? Not every girl? Just me? oh, ok. Also, one of the books he read (I think possibly the first after he got his glasses?) was Watership Down, which is a favorite of mine. It’s got nice LOST undertones, too. Anyway, I’ll stop ranting about the love of my life.

On to Kate! AKA Evangeline Lilly. I’ve got to admit that I like her. She’s cute. I just hate Kate’s toying with the boys. Not that she intends to toy, I’m sure, but just that she can’t decide. She really has been in basically nothing other than LOST. She had an uncredited role in Freddy Vs. Jason. So there’s that. Word on the street is she’s a devout Christian, and refused to do a partially nude scene in season 1. However, that doesn’t explain this picture of her in just a bra. I guess that doesn’t qualify as immoral.  She also was in a commercial for LiveLinks. Which is just kind of creepy. But it doesn’t seem like she was having much luck getting roles back then. Good thing Kate came along. I read somewhere that originally Jack was going to die in the first episode and she was supposed to be the main hero of the show. That would’ve been interesting, but much less exciting as far as the Jack-Kate-Sawyer triangle goes. Honestly, I’d rather see her end up with Sawyer ONLY because he loves her. Personally, I don’t think she’s right for either of them. But Sawyer wants it more, or at least shows it more. And anything he wants, I want. Jack should end up with Juliet. End of story.

Anyway, the juciest part of Evangeline’s real life that I can find is that she dated and was engaged to Dominic Monaghan AKA Charlie. This throws my world into a bizzare tailspin of horror. However, they do look pretty cute together in real life. Unfortunately, they broke up. Probably because he’s a hobbit. Okay, that’s not fair. But I really can’t picture him as anything but Merry from Lord of the Rings.

I’ll go a little bit out of order importance-wise and move right in to Charlie. I really didn’t like him at first. Mostly because I could only see him as the hobbit, and I had accidentally watched the finale of season 3 and knew he was going to die. So I guess my subconscious didn’t want to get too invested to begin with. But he won my heart. And while he’s not a heartthrob by any means, he’s sweet and adorable and I cried when he died even though I knew exactly what was going to happen.

Dominic Monaghan is probably most famous for that Lord of the Rings trilogy, but he’s been in some other stuff, too. He’s also only 32, which makes him within my realistic boyfriend material (although he’s right on the edge). He’s been busy, though. He’s in the new X-Men Wolverine movie coming out soon, and in production for two movies, Fortuna and Pet which are both categorized as horror/thrillers.

He apparently tried out for the role of Sawyer originally, but was cast as Charlie instead. He didn’t want to be typecast as anything similar to Merry. But I think it fits him. And that he should stick with the troubled artist role for a while. You can play it different ways. Charlie is that but very funny. You could definitely do a more serious version of it.  And I’ve got to admit, he can be pretty sexy.

Okay, the rest of these are probably going to be fairly short because I’m running low on time (and energy).

Locke: Terry O’Quinn. There’s something about this guy. Maybe it’s just Locke the character. I loooooved him in the first season or two. He’s gone a little crazy since then. But I’m liking him more again after my anger at him earlier in the season. He really is just doing what he thinks needs to be done. Eh. O’Quinn has been in a lot of stuff I like, but mostly very small roles. He had apperances on Law and Order, NCIS, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, even Roswell. He was also the mayor in Tombstone, and Howard Hughes in The Rocketeer!

He’s 56 and has been married since before I was born. That’s okay, though. I found this quote of him, which I like a lot. “I’ve told the producers that I miss the old John Locke. I wish he hadn’t found those damn buttons sometimes. But these ups and downs reflect everybody’s. You can’t always choose the way things go. That’s life.” I miss the old John, too. Remember when he was creepy/funny, not just crazy? yeah.

Oh, Hurley. Or Hugo. Whatever. Jorge Garcia, really. You can’t not love him, even though he’s made some bad choices throughout the show. Hurley, that is, not Jorge. Jorge has been in a lot, but not much I’ve heard of, and has a pretty good stage career. He had a recurring role on Becker, and will be in a movie called When We Were Pirates, which sounds kind of like a remake of The Goonies to me. He was on one of my faaaavorite gameshows, Russian Roulette! And he apparently sings some for Matthew Fox’s band Lost Souls. Clever title. Word is they’ll perform for one of the new episodes of LOST. Really? Hrm. He apparently was the first person to offically be cast for LOST, and originally tried out for the role of Sawyer. That wouldn’t have made for the best love-triangle, eh? He’s adorable. I just wish he’d cut his hair.

Same goes for this guy, actually, along with his gross fingernails, Sayid, played by Naveen Andrews. I hear a lot of girls are in love with him, too, and rank him up there with Jack and Sawyer. I am not one of these girls. Granted, he’s got a great body and is totally badass. He just doesn’t doo it for me, though. He’s been in a surprising amout of stuff, though, including The English Patient, Might Joe Young, and Planet Terror/Grindhouse. He’s rumored to appear in something called This Side of the Looking Glass, but it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with LOST or the episode titled “Through the Looking Glass.” He’s got a thing for the older ladies, apparently, which does NOT explain him and Shannon. He got his high school math teacher knocked up (after falling in love with her) and is now dating Barbara Hershey who is 21 years older than him.

I say he’s more attractive on the show than in real life. Probably because I like beards.

Back to sexy men…Jin. I wouldn’t have believed I’d say that at the beginning of the series, but he has won my heart entirely and I hope hope hope he somehow made it off that boat before it exploded. Daniel Dae Kim was in a ton of stuff before LOST, but all small roles and mostly just for one episode in the usual, CSI, Star Trek, but also Party of Five (interesting), Charmed, Beverly Hills 90210, among many many others. He’s been doing pretty well acting-wise, but IMDB doesn’t have anything coming up for him soon. He’s married with two kids, who I assume are adorable. I hear he got a DUI a while ago, but I’m going to ignore that because I can’t believe Jin would do that. I love him.

And of course, Sun, played by the GORGEOUS Yunjin Kim. She’s been in basically nothing, at least not in a language I can read. But she is listed as being in a movie called Two Sisters being written and directed by Margaret Cho. I really love Sun on the show, especially once she gains more and more confidence throughout. And her screams when the boat blows up presumably killing Jin…well they just destroyed my tear ducts. But I get the feeling I wouldn’t like her real life persona. She just seems a little…too sexy? I dunno. If I were a suddenly famous hot chick, I’d probably do the same. I can’t really find much else about her. Except that she knows Taekwondo. Which is pretty awesome.

Next, the closest competitor for my heart next to Sawyer, *swoons* Desmond. Now, my roommate already claimed him, but It’s okay to dream…

We’ve already been over my love for beards, so it’s easy to see why Henry Ian Cusick (but he goes by Ian) is so wonderful. Throw in that Scottish accent and I’m sold. He hasn’t done much other than LOST, except he did play Jesus in The Visual Bible: The Gospel of John.

He lived with and had three kids with a woman named Annie Wood before they got married. Annie…Penny…coincidence? I think not.

Desmond is, by far, my favorite backstory. Not only is there a great love story in there, he’s been through a lot, mostly for said love story. The fact that he’s not one of the crash victims doesn’t really matter to me. And his episodes always have a little more umph to them. I mean, everyone loves The Constant. How could you not? Oh and that smile! He’s in a new movie called Dead Like Me: Life After Death, which sounds pretty cool.

I’ve really got to give it a rest for now. This has taken me pretty much all day to put together. I’ll do my best to get to the rest of the characters sometime soon.

In the meantime, check out ABC’s trailers for Season 5. I especially like the clip of creator Damon Lindelof in which he discusses the heiroglyphics used in the show. Then his quote “Who knows how far it goes back?…I do.” ha. Love it. And can’t wait to find out!

And…I’m sorry…but my roommate just sent me this:

Why NCIS is better than those other crime shows.

I’ve got to admit I watch a lot of crime shows. They’re very easy to come in late on, and don’t reqiure me watching the full hour if I don’t feel like it. Nothing hugely shocking is ever going to happen. The case will be solved, or not solved, but it doesn’t really matter because the characters stay the same.

However, NCIS changes all that. At least for me. And here’s why:

First off, he’s dreamy.  I knew I loved Mark Harmon because of my family’s consistent watching of Summer School, in which he plays Mr. Shoop who helps a rag-tag group of nearly drop-outs pass their their tests, or at least do less terribly on them. Who knew he could be even more adorable as a somewhat grouchy oldish man. That’s the thing, though. He’s tough, but he’s also a sweetie.

ALSO he was on the cover of Playgirl the year I was born. Does that make me creepy for having such a crush on him?

Answer: No. He’s just wonderful.

And, was in some great things, including an episode of Lavern and Shirley from 1977. He hosted SNL in 1987, and was in Wyatt Earp, Natural Born Killers, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Oh, and of course, JAG where Special Agent Gibbs was first seen (I think).

What’s great about NCIS is how he (Gibbs) teaches, punishes, encourages, ridicules and loves all of his underlings, Tony, Ziva, Abby, McGee, Ducky (oh, and don’t forget Kate).

Ok, so Tony. He’s cute, for sure, but he’s no Gibbs. Yet. I’ve seen some definite hints that he’ll replace Gibbs as senior whatever whatever agent, if he ever dies/leaves the show. Which won’t happen because he’s immortal. He’s played by Michael Weatherly who apparently was engaged to Jessica Alba. I wonder who dumped who.

And Ziva, who is surprisingly hot in real life. I like how bad-ass she is, and her American slang mishaps are always good for a laugh. Her sexual chemistry with Tony is much better than Kate’s was. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Kate a lot, but her flirtations with Tony were always very “No, this will never actually happen” and straightforward. Ziva and Tony seem like they could mount each other on Gibbs’ desk at any moment, but they have no idea it’s going to happen. In real life Cote de Pablo hasn’t done much else, but apparently is a good musician. cool.

I wasn’t going to say much about Kate.

Still not, really except I just found out that the chick who plays her, Sasha Alexander was PACEY’S SISTER on Dawson’s Creek. Weird. She’s also in that new Jim Carrey movie, Yes Man, which I probably won’t see. But good for her. Also…Dayum –>

And now for my FAVORITE…McGee!!! I love him so much. Okay, maybe not as much as Gibbs, but he’s definitely the best of the rest of them. I love that he’s an author and his books are based on the NCIS office. Here’s the best part. Sean Murray was totally Zachary Binks in Hocus Pocus. Hell yes. I was in love with him when I was 8 years old and I had no idea! Plus, I know McGee isn’t all that dreamy on the show, but Murray is a total real-life sexy man. Seems to be a trend for NCIS. He’s the youngest of the array of attractive men on the show, but, unfortunately for me, married with kids. Phooey.

But that doesn’t leave any reason for McGee and Abby to stop their delicious flirting/awkwardness. They’re so wonderful. I didn’t like Abby at first. Her whole goth thing seemed annoying to me. But I was totally wrong. She’s one of the highlights of the show, and don’t get my started on the adorableness that ensues when she and Gibbs get together. Love. She’s played by Pauley Perrette, who I was very surprised to discover is almost 40. Weird. Also, really gorgeous.

They’re just all so good looking, how could you not want to watch USA’s 4-hour marathons that happen EVERY DAY.
